The web page is more of an open forum to discuss thoughts that run through the minds of people when they think about hiring an attorney. Specifically, thoughts of my own. Now, as I look at the lady to the left. I don't know if she's a Louisville divorce lawyer or not. Image Cafe gave me permission to use certain pictures, so that is what I do. I'm assuming she's qualified in every aspect of the law dictionary. It's possible she's just recently read The Book of Law For Dummy Lawyers, either way, let's see what I think. If I was in the needs for a divorce attorney, as a male, I'm definitely feeling I'm supposed to go with a woman lawyer. Is this true? Would this help? I doubt it, but that is what goes through my mind.
Probably one of the most important factors I've considered before hiring an attorney is if I like them or not. If this lawyer is going to shoot straight with me or is he going to blow smoke my way until he gets the next imbursement check. A likeable lawyer ,that would be an interested discussion. I would say most of them are likeable while you're talking to them. If they weren't, you probably couldn't find them because they would be out of business.
Let's look at a person's background. Do we care where they went to college? Some people might care. If you're one of those people, then you're probably ones of those people who don't ask how much things cost either. Since I don't have the deepest of pockets, I personally make it a point to ask the lawyer, "How much is this going to cost me?". I'll tell you the answer I've received from Elizabethtown lawyers in the section to the right. Louisville attorneys seem to have a distinctly different response. It's as if it was taught at the Louisville College of Law.
| | When I first started to try and find either a Louisville Attorney or one from Elizabethtown, it wasn't easy. I went through about five lawyers that simply couldn't take the case because they have represented my x-wife in one fashion or another. You see, why would you sue someone you've already done business with? It doesn't' make much sense if you want repeat business, right?
Anyway, I found one that particularly didn't care for the person I was suing. He threw out a figure of a $3,000 retainer and took the laid back stance and said, "When it's out, it's out". This guy acted as if $3,000 was just chump change. Well, I'm not an attorney and I can't afford that type of attitude. I felt I needed something more assuring than that. Now I realize that most lawyers, especially in Louisville, can not just give you a guaranteed price. Situations come up, the case is more deeper than what originally was planned for. Just like an excavator. If a guy bids a job to build a basement or put in sewer lines, he's bidding on the job from what he is told. If he hits rock, then the price goes up. We all can understand this as consumers, but we want to be somewhat assures we're not going to be taken advantage of, especially when it comes to costs involving Louisville divorce lawyers and other legal expenses.
The next lawyer I went to said, "I can do it for $1,000". He ended up sending me a bill for an additional $120 for some type of court report fees or something like that. I really don't see the other attorney sending me a refund check, do you?
